Scheduled Overland Adventures, Expeditions & EXP-4WD Training - 2020 Schedule

March 2020 – Spring Expedition & 4WD Training [EXP-4WD] –
Friday, March 20th through Sunday, March 22nd | New Mexico’s Gila
Region | 3 Days | Approximate Route Distance: 125-Miles | Approximate
Elevation Range: 4,250 to 7,875-Feet | New for 2018, NMBR will be
providing an overland skills overview program to cover driving
techniques and terrain negotiation, vehicle
repair/maintenance/preservation, vehicle recovery techniques, field and
overland kit assembly, trip planning, and more. The program is geared
towards beginner and intermediate level overland enthusiasts looking to
gain a solid basis and the confidence necessary to go [well prepared]
into their future overland-based adventures. The three day in-field
training program will take along a 125-mile overland traverse of the
Gila National Forest. NMBR’s Overland Training will feature the same
backcountry and overland elements as NMBR’s regular overland tours, but
the focus of the three-day course will be educational rather than

Rescheduled / New Dates: Ghost Divide Expedition [GDE]:
Sunday, May 9th through Thursday, May 13th, 2021 - Adventure to the
Overland Expo West leading to the 2021 Overland Expo West | New Mexico
& Arizona | 5 Days | 500 Miles | Elev. 4,250 to 9,000 ft. | Route
and experience featured by TCT and FOURWHEELER Magazines. The Ghost
Divide Expedition will begin in Southern New Mexico and lead to
Flagstaff, Arizona via backroads. Areas
of exploration will include Continental Divide, Gila National Forest,
White Mountains, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, Rim Country, and

July 2020 – River to the Sky Expedition
– Friday, July 24th through Monday, July 27th | Southern Colorado &
Northern New Mexico | 4 Days | Approximate Route Distance: 250-Miles |
Approximate Elevation Range: 6,500 to 12,500 ft. | Since 2014, NMBR has
been scouting and building an overland traversal that captivates the
best of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado’s backcountry. The
River to the Sky Expedition charts the Rio Grande River’s path from the
Taos Plateau to its headwaters high above tree line. Areas of
exploration will include Sangre de Christo Mountains, Taos Plateau, San
Luis Valley, San Juan Mountains, and Continental Divide. This four-day
4WD adventure will conclude in Silverton, Colorado. Details for the

September 2020 – El Coyote Expedition (Epic Weekender) – Friday, September 18th through Sunday, September 20th | New Mexico’s Gila Region | 3 Day Extended Weekend Trip | New Mexico’s Gila Region | 3 Day Extended Weekend Trip | Approximate Route Distance: 325 to 350-Miles | Approximate Elevation Range: 4,375 to 9,000-Feet | New Mexico Backroads’ newest Gila traversal is geared towards overlanders with moderate to advanced experience levels. The El Coyote Overland will
include a faster pace, fewer educational sessions, and longer drive
days than NMBR’s other Gila-based adventures. Areas of exploration will
include Black Range, Mogollon Mountains, Tularosa Mountains, and

September 2020 – Fall Camino del Tesoro Overland
– Monday, September 28th through Thursday, October 1st | Northern New
Mexico | 4 Days | 325 Miles | Elev. 6,500 to 11,200 ft. | NMBR’s Camino
del Tesoro Overland will traverse the scenic high-country of northern
New Mexico during the fall season—when the aspens are golden and the air
is crisp. Route featured in the Spring 2014 issue of Overland Journal
“Southwest Treasure Hunt”. Areas of exploration will include San Juan
Mountains, Continental Divide, Taos Plateau, Sangre de Christo
