"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
-Mark Twain

The Long Trip Home

With the help of an inspiring State, I have created this blog to make a journal of my travels in and around New Mexico. As a child, regularly traveling into the Gila Wilderness with my father made for an early understanding of nature’s expanse and draw. As I grew older, I quickly forgot about places such as the Gila and headed to college in Texas destined to make a final exit from what I considered a barren place. As the college years passed I found myself returning home to the grassy plains and rugged hills seeing things again as if for the first time. Still outwardly unimpressed, I pushed my exploration into Colorado looking for my "ultimate territory". While 14,000 foot peaks provided a sensational quick fix, I began to realize my natural magnetization back to the Land of Enchantment. After graduation I found myself headed home, bound for what I had always known to be true space and beauty- New Mexico. -Jake Quinones
